Kenya Uber Launches Delivery Service & Egypt Intercity Bus Service

Uber released its delivery service Uber Connect in Kenya on the same day. As part of its effort to adapt its technology to local demands, the company also launched an intercity bus service in Egypt. Uber Connect ‘s launch in Kenya comes under its plan to build new ways to do business after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Uber Connect and Uber Direct were released in April to join the logistics ecosystem entirely. It recently purchased Postmates, a US $2.65 billion on-demand food service. There is a global shift from ride-hailing bikes to distribution services within the logistics market. Different campaigns were made in Africa this year by MAX, Gokada, Little and Bolt.

Uber Connect will provide packages in Kenya with an established and reliable Uber Boda same-day service. The packet weight cap is KES 55, the base charge is KES 14 per km per kilometer and the remaining distance is KES 1 per minute.

The introduction of Uber’s Intercity Bus transformed Egypt into the first country to offer this service worldwide. The goal is to connect cities, starting with Egypt, via the Uber app. “We ‘re proud to see another global product launch from Egypt. The Managing Director of Uber Egypt, Ahmed Khalil. The nation is a center for creativity and the ideal place for new products to be developed.

Intercity buses provide easy transport options in and around cities. Before expanding the first routes to other cities throughout the region, Cairo to Alexandria. The service is valid for a week and is accessible eight hours a day.

Riders can also make pre-book trips using a smartphone device. In Cairo and Alexandria are approximately 9 pick up / drop points. The coach must follow all safety measures of COVID-19, promote drivers’ physical distance and add sanitizers in all buses.
